Audio Maker

Audio Maker

Audio Maker on Read&Write for Google allows you to highlight text in a Google Doc and download it as an mp3 file. Simply highlight the text that you want to create an audio file with and click the icon to download the mp3 file. When the mp3 file is opened, it will read the text that was selected aloud.

Students that would benefit:
All students who wish to download an mp3 file would benefit from this feature. It would be especially beneficial for students who are visually impaired as they can have text read to them and also save the file to refer back to at a later date. Students who have dyslexia would also benefit from having text read to them.

Use in a class:
A teacher could provide a class with a text and have all students highlight and download important features to refer back to later to study for a test or to use in an assessment. Students could submit an assessment in the form of an mp3 file instead of typed or written text. Alternatively, a teacher could provide students with an audio file to accompany a written text or just a standalone audio file depending on what the needs are in the class. It allows teachers and students to use audio as a format for delivering content.
