Prediction Tool for Read and Write for Google:

The Word prediction tool that is available on Read and Write for Google is a tool that allows the user to start spelling words and, the function will predict the word that is being written. It will also offer the user a list of word options to choose from if they are unsure of which word they are looking for. To open the word prediction function, the user can click on the icon on the toolbar and the word prediction tool will begin to predict the words. In addition to predicting the words as the user types, if the user hovers over the predicted words in the toolbox, the tool will read the word aloud. To select the word they would like to use, the user can simply hover over the word in the word prediction toolbox and select the word that most closely resembles the word they are trying to spell.

Supporting learners:

The word prediction feature in the toolbar for Read and Write is beneficial for students who have a learning disability, students with dyslexia, Students who may have fine motor difficulties, speech-language difficulties, and English as Second Language learners. Students who use this feature on Read and Write for Google will be supported because it allows the user to work independently. When the student uses the word prediction tool, it allows the students to feel more confident in his/her ability when writing.

Using it in the classroom:

Teachers can use this tool for all students in their classrooms, as it can aid each learner in the writing process. It offers students the opportunity to explore words they may be unfamiliar or unsure of and foster more independence among learners. Teachers can use this tool to support students in writing and reading.
